Anne Macarthur has done it all, and she continues to serve and inspire.
She lives on a farm in Bairnsdale, rural Victoria, and has been known to make the four-hour train trip to Melbourne for meetings multiple times a week.
Anne’s commitment and energy are truly outstanding. She swims most mornings and attributes her enormous impact to the collective effort. She was a guest at a recent all staff call and said “No one achieves anything alone. It’s always a team effort” and that her Red Cross family energise her, before offering to share her famous shortbread recipe “only if it will make money for Red Cross”.
Anne shared some of her most treasured Red Cross memories, her thoughts on the need for volunteers and staff to understand each other better, her hopes for our future and more.
In 2007 Anne was awarded an Order of Australia medal. She’s now also a Member (AM) in the General Division in the Order of Australia, for significant service to the community through Australian Red Cross.
